Pulsations Socks

 

Yarn: Spunky Eclectic Supernova (Color - Pulse) 1 skein.
Needles: US3
Gauge: over Stockinette 7 sts/in

Lace Pulsations Pattern:

R1,3,5: Knit all
R2: K1, YO, SSK, K3, K2tog, YO
R4: K2, YO, SSK, K1, K2tog, YO, K1
R6: P1, K2, YO, S1, K2tog, PSSO, YO, K2
R7,9,11,13: P1, K7
R8,10,12,14: P1, SSK, K1, YO, Ktbl, YO, K1, K2tog

Size is women’s small with women’s medium in the parenthesis. Where there is one direction it applies to both sizes.

Pattern:
CO (56)64, join in the round marking your beginning and being careful not to twist your stitches. Work 2 inches of a k1, p1, rib. Start the “Pulsations Pattern”. Work 3 full repeats.

Start heel:
*S1, K1 repeat from * 14 (16) times. [28(32) sts] Turn,
S1, Purl the rest.
Repeat these 2 rows 14 times. [28 rows total]
Make one more repeat of the first row
S1,P16(20), P2tog, P1 turn
S1 K7(11), K2tog, K1 turn
S1 Purl to one stitch before the gap, P2tog, P1, turn
S1, K to one stitch before the gap, K2tog, K1, turn
Repeat these last 2 rows until you have worked all the stitches and don’t “turn” after the last stitch has been worked, you will have RS facing and will start picking up stitches.
Pick up and knit 16 sts up one side of the gusset flap. Work across the 28(32) top stitches in pattern. Pick up and knit 16 sts down the other side of the gusset flap and across 9(11) of the heel stitches, This is now the beginning of your round.
The Remaining 9(11) sts of the heel and the 16 gusset stitches are Needle 1, The top 28(32) stitches are needle 2, The following 16 gusset and 9(11) heel stitches are needle 3

R1: Knit all the stitches on needles 1. Keep Needle 2 in the proper row of the pulsations pattern, Knit all the stitches on needles 3.
R2: Knit within 3 sts of the end of needle1, K2tog, K1, Keep Needle 2 in the proper row of the pulsations pattern. Needle 3: K1, SSK, Knit to the end.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have worked down to 56(64) sts again.
Then work as fols until the sock foot measures 2 inches less than the overall measurement of the foot of the recipient of your sock. Knit all the stitches on needles 1. Keep Needle 2 in the proper row of the pulsations pattern, Knit all the stitches on needles 3.
When you hit the proper measurement, K3 rounds even.
Toe:
Round 1: Needle1: Knit within 3 sts of end of needle, K2tog, K1, Needle 2: K1, SSK, Knit within 3 sts of end of needle, K2tog, K1, Needle 3: K1, SSK, Knit to the end.
Round 2: Knit all
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until you have reduced to 28(32)sts.

Finishing:
Kitchener the toe together and weave in all ends.

In case you didn't know this, you need to make 2 socks for a pair. So quick and cast on before you get second sock syndrome!
