Little Sister Sweater

Sizes:
0-3 months (6-9 months, 12 months)

Yarn: 1(2,2) balls of Plymouth Encore Colorspun (200yds) Color 7022

Needles: US8 (5mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 18sts/20 rows to 4 inches

 

Pattern:

Sleeves:
CO 28(32,36)sts. Pass marker and join in round.
Work 6 rounds P2,K2 rib.
Next round: PM, K1, Kfb, work until last 2 sts, Kfb, K1.
Next 3 rounds: Work in Stst
Work the last 4 rounds 3 more times. 36(40,44)sts
Work in stst until the sleeve measures 5.5(6.5,7.5) inches from the beginning.
Put 2(3,4) sts before the marker and 2(3,4) sts after the marker on a st holder to be joined underarm later. Put the rest of the 32(34,36)sts onto a spare piece of yarn and set aside to join with body later.

Work the second sleeve in the same manner

Body:
CO 88(96,104)sts. Pass marker and join in the round.
Work 6 rounds P2,K2 rib.
Starting with the next row work in stst. Work until your piece measures 4.5(5, 5.5) inches from the beginning.

Yoke:
PM, knit across the next 24(25,26)sts of the body, Put the next 4(6,8) sts of the body on a st holder. PM, Knit across the 32(34,36)sts from one of the sleeves, PM, knit over the next 40(42,44)sts of the body, Put the next 4(6,8) sts of the body on a st holder, PM, Knit across the 32(34,36)sts from the other sleeve, PM, knit over the last 16(17,18)sts of the body
***note: The first stitch marker will mark where the neck detail will be. It might help to mark this one differently as you will NOT decrease at this one marker only

Round 1: PM, *knit until 3 sts before next marker, K2tog,K1, PM, K1, SSP* Continue in this manner until the end of round (until you’ve decreased at each of the 4 points around the sleeves).
Round 2: Knit all sts

Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until your work measures 6.5(7,7.5) from the beginning of the sweater.

Round 1: K1,P1,K1, P1 (seed st) *knit until 3 sts before next marker, K2tog,K1, PM, K1, SSP* Continue in this manner until you’ve decreased at each of the 4 points around the sleeves, when you come to the end of the round, CO 4 sts
Turn
Round 2: K1,P1,K1,P1 (seed st) Purl all sts until you come to the last 4 sts, work in seed st.
Turn
Work the next 4sts in seed st *knit until 3 sts before next marker, K2tog,K1, PM, K1, SSP* Continue in this manner until you’ve decreased at each of the 4 points around the sleeves, when you come to the end of the round, work the last 4 sts in seed st
Turn
Round 4: K1,P1,K1,P1 (seed st) Purl all sts until you come to the last 4 sts, work in seed st.
Turn

At the same time work button holes within the seed stitch border, evenly spaced and on the proper side of the garment for boy or girl.

Work rounds 3 and 4 until you have 68(76,84)sts left
Round 1: K1,P1,K1, P1 (seed st) knit until 3 sts before next marker, K2tog,K1, PM, K1, SSP, knit until 3 sts before next marker, K2tog,K1, PM, knit until 3 sts before next marker, work a short row, purl back and work another short row, knit to finish that short row, purl back to finish the other short row, knit to the next marker, PM, K1, SSP, knit until 3 sts before next marker, K2tog,K1, PM, K1, SSP, knit until last 4 sts, work in seed st.
***note: you did not decrease the 2 sts over the back for a reason. You can omit the short rows on the back if you wish. It just raises the back neck up a bit more.
Turn
Round 2: K1,P1,K1,P1 (seed st) Purl all sts until you come to the last 4 sts, work in seed st.

You should now have 62(70,78)sts

Round 1:Work the first 4 sts in Seed st, *K2, P2* Repeat across to the last 6 sts, K2 then work the last 4 in seed st.
Turn
Round 2: Work the first 4 sts in Seed st, *P2, K2* Repeat across to the last 6 sts, P2 then work the last 4 in seed st.
Turn
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 one more time working your last buttonhole at the same time so you’ll be able to button all the way up.

Bind off loosely in established pattern

Graft the underarms of sleeves to the body.

Weave in all the ends
