Husbeast socks

SIZE
Average and wide width.
Average will fit me as well the husbeast, just not stretched as much. Actually I probably should have made him larger ones. He has narrow feet but needs a little more at the leg which is easy to compensate for. Cast on for the larger one and then at the heel gusset just decrease a few extra times until you have a more narrow foot.
The larger size is represented in the parenthesis. If there is no parenthesis then both sizes are worked the same.

MATERIALS
Cascade 220 [220 yds] 2 skeins. You will actually use between 250 (small foot short leg) and 350 (large foot tall leg) yards.
Needles: 4, size us5 Double pointed or size to get gauge
Darning needle for grafting the toe.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
SKP= slip one stitch, knit the next stitch, slip the first stitch over the knit one and off the needle.
C6B= slip next 3 sts onto a cable needle and leave at back of work, knit3 from LHN and then knit 3 off the cable needle

Working the gusset/instep:
Divide the heel stitches onto 2 needles (you should be working on the right side – if not knit across the heel stitches until you are)
Pick up 12 stitches on the same needle as half the heel stitches – needle 1. (If you changed the length of heel, the number of stitches to pick up on one side is half the total number of rows plus 1)

Pick up 12 stitches down the next side and knit off to the middle of the heel. – needle 3.
