Pattern: TOE: Using figure 8 cast on - CO 24(28,32) sts. Knit one round, do not forget that on one needle the stitches will be twisted and you will need to knit into the back loop to straighten them out. Knit 6(7,8) stitches, you will need to mark your round beginning here. This is where you can increase to using 4 needles. Round 1: Needle1 - Knit 5(6,7)sts, M1, K1 Needle 2 - K1, M1,K10(12,14), M1, K1 Needle 3 – K1, M1, K5(6,7). Round 2: Knit all. Round 3: N1: Knit to the last stitch, M1, K1, N2: K1, M1, Knit to the last stitch, M1, K1, N3: K1, M1, Knit to the end of round. Continue working the last 2 rows until you have 36(44,52) sts on your needles. Knit 2 rounds even. FOOT: Keep needles 1 and 3 in knit. Needle 2 work in *K2,P2 across. end with K2. Work in this manner until the foot of your sock measures 1.5(1.5,2) inches less the length of the foot that the sock is for. GARTER HEEL: Hold the stitches on Needle 2 for the top of your foot. Knit to the last stitch on needle 1, wrap the last stitch and turn. knit across needle 1 and 3to the last st of your working stitches, wrap this stitch and turn. *K to before your last wrapped stitch, wrap and turn. Knit to before your last wrapped stitch and turn. Repeat from *, working one less stitch each row, always working wrapping before turning. Continue this until there are 8(8,10) stitches remaining without wraps and a RS row is facing. Knit over the unwrapped stitches and knit 1 wrapped stitch working the wrap together with your stitch. Wrap and turn. knit across the unwrapped stitches and knit 1 wrapped stitch working the wrap together with your stitch. Continue in this manner, working in the wraps and working one more stitch each row until you have worked all 18(22,26) stitches again and your next row is a RS row. You may need to pick up and work in extra stitch on each end of the heel to prevent a hole. LEG: Work around your sock. Keep needle 1 and 3 in
knit while working needle 2 in ribbing pattern for 4 rows. Then start
working rib over entire leg. To make it work out right so you remember
the rib pattern easier, you may need to rearrange stitches on the needles.
On the shorty baby socks work this way for 1.5 inches. *Work the leg
as long as you desire. BO loosely in pattern. Weave in ends |
